Conversion options

PNG and WebP keep transparency that survives decoding. JPG fills it with white.

This tool needs JavaScript and a modern browser with local image processing.

How to use

What is an image format converter?

An image converter saves a picture in a different file format so it works in the app or website you need. This tool accepts common images and creates PNG, JPG or WebP files locally. Changing format does not recreate detail missing from the original.

Example and expected result

Choose ten 1200 × 800 PNG images and select WebP at quality 92. Expected: ten WebP files at 1200 × 800, with a before/after size comparison and one ZIP download. Actual file sizes depend on the image content.

Formats and limits

PNG, JPG, WebP, static GIF, BMP, SVG and supported HEIC/HEIF inputs. Up to 50 MB per file, 4096 pixels per side and ten files per batch; larger decoded images are rejected. Animated GIF uses only its first frame. SVG is rasterized at your chosen width; linked images, fonts and stylesheets are not loaded. JPG fills transparency with white. HEIC converts only the still image. Metadata and wide-gamut/HDR appearance are not guaranteed to survive Canvas conversion. SVG input is limited to 5 MB, 20,000 elements and 100 levels of nesting. Filters, animation and unsupported SVG styles are removed. The HEIC decoder may flatten transparency.

Each batch is limited to 100 MB of input files and 200 MB of local results and previews. Choose fewer files if you reach this limit.

Local processing times out after 90 seconds per job. Cancel stops the active worker. Completed files remain downloadable.

FAQ

Which output format should I choose?

JPG suits photographs and broad compatibility. PNG keeps transparency without a lossy encode. WebP often makes smaller files and supports transparency, but check that the receiving service accepts it.

Will converting reduce image quality?

JPG and WebP can lose detail, especially after repeated encoding. PNG does not restore lost quality. Check the preview; the quality slider is an encoder setting, not the percentage of detail preserved.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Every image is processed in your browser. Any required decoder is downloaded as code; your image is not sent to it.

Can I convert animated GIFs?

Only the first frame is exported. This is a still-image converter and does not preserve animation.

Does HEIC work, and why might a file fail?

Supported HEIC and HEIF photos use a local decoder. A file may fail if it is damaged, exceeds the limits or uses an unsupported variant. Try a JPG export from your Photos app if decoding fails.
