How to use
What is HEIC?
HEIC is an image format commonly used by iPhones to store photos with less space than a comparable JPEG. This tool converts the still image to JPG, PNG or WebP in your browser. Your photos stay on your device.

Example and expected result
Choose ten 4032 × 3024 HEIC photos, select JPG and quality 92, then convert. Expected: ten JPG files at the same dimensions in one ZIP. File sizes vary with the photographs; smaller files are not guaranteed.
Output format comparison
| Format | Best for | Transparency |
|---|---|---|
| JPG | Photos and broad compatibility; lossy | White background |
| PNG | Logos and graphics; lossless encoding | Supported |
| WebP | Smaller web images; lossy encoding here | Supported |
Formats and limits
HEIC and HEIF inputs, up to 50 MB per file and ten files per batch. The still image is converted; Live Photo motion, metadata, depth maps and auxiliary images are not preserved. Decoding can take several seconds. Damaged or unsupported HEIC variants may fail. JPG replaces transparent areas with white. Your originals stay unchanged. Decoded HEIC images are limited to 8192 pixels per side and 50 megapixels. This decoder may flatten transparency; PNG and WebP cannot restore alpha lost while decoding.
Each batch is limited to 100 MB of input files and 200 MB of local results and previews. Choose fewer files if you reach this limit.
Local processing times out after 90 seconds per job. Cancel stops the active worker. Completed files remain downloadable.
FAQ
What is HEIC, and why does my iPhone use it?
HEIC stores photographs efficiently. Choose JPG when the app or website receiving your photo does not accept HEIC.
Will conversion reduce quality?
JPG and WebP can lose detail. Higher quality settings retain more detail but usually make larger files. PNG avoids another lossy encode, but cannot restore detail already lost in the source.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Decoding and conversion run locally in your browser. The decoder may need to be downloaded on first use; it does not receive your photo.
Does it convert Live Photos?
Only the still image. A Live Photo’s motion or sound is not included in the converted file. If a file fails, try another HEIC photo or export a JPG from your Photos app.
What happens to transparent HEIC images in JPG?
JPG cannot store transparency. This HEIC decoder may also flatten transparency before encoding. PNG or WebP avoid further flattening, but cannot restore missing alpha. Check the preview before downloading.
